John Dewhurst

John DewhurstJohn Dewhurst, director, was educated at St George's College, Rhodesia, the University of Rhodesia and Balliol College, Oxford.

He was the Rhodesian Law Society Prize Winner in 1967 and 1968, and a South African Law Society Prize Winner in 1978. He was an Advocate of the High Court of Zimbabwe and an Attorney of the Supreme Court of South Africa and is a member of the International Bar Association and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (United Kingdom). He was formerly a lecturer in taxation law at the University of Rhodesia and an associate partner in Bowman, Gilfillan and Blacklock Inc., attorneys in Johannesburg.

He was the editor of Journal of Strategy in International Taxation and compiled Interfisc, the Double Taxation Treaty Service. He is a member of the Council and Education Committee of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (United Kingdom) and a past Chairman of the Institute’s international tax sub-committee. He also serves as a UK representative on the Council of the Confédération Fiscale Européenne.

John specialises in a wide range of tax planning issues and in solving intractable tax problems, many of them involving the tax regimes in two or more different countries.
